SALT:  Looking Homeward on the Sargasso Sea

1996
Gallery 4Culture
Seattle, WA

5000 pounds of salt covered the gallery, crunching gently underfoot and bringing into awareness the pace and rhythm of the body.  The heat of sun on a still ocean and the cold of a snowy field.  Walls were covered with salt-encrusted paper dried into topographic bas-relief skins.  Two benches, -- upholstered with lead and door security viewer for upholstery buttons --  faced each other mutually unreachable from across the space:d  one inscribed with a map, the other with childhood memories.
